How to enquire about accommodation with a dog

The message should include the dates, number of guests and name of the chosen apartment. It should also describe the dog: how many animals are coming, their size and any particular requirements for the stay. If a dog struggles with stairs or needs frequent walks, this is best mentioned before choosing an apartment.

An example enquiry could read:

Hello, we are planning a stay from 20 to 23 November for two people with one dog weighing around 12 kg. We are interested in Belle View. Is a stay with a pet possible on these dates? Please let us know about charges and rules. Are there stairs before the apartment entrance?

This is an example of questions to ask, not confirmation that a dog is accepted at the named apartment. At Daj Sobie Spokój, the conditions for a stay with a pet are agreed for the chosen apartment. The reply to the enquiry allows these to be checked before the booking is confirmed.

Which charges and rules need to be agreed?

Before booking, there needs to be clear confirmation that the dog is accepted and of the total price of the stay. A general statement that pets are allowed does not explain all the conditions. The reply should make clear:

  • whether an extra charge applies and how it is calculated;
  • whether the rules cover one dog or several animals;
  • whether the dog may be left alone in the apartment;
  • what is agreed regarding furniture, bed linen and cleaning up after the animal;
  • whether there are other restrictions relevant to the apartment or building.

Without this agreement, neither a free stay for the dog nor permission to leave it alone for several hours should be assumed. For guests planning visits to places that do not admit dogs, the second point may shape the whole day's plans.

Is a terrace or garden enough to choose an apartment?

Belle View has a terrace, Mariental a balcony and Widok800 a garden. Photos and descriptions are available on the Daj Sobie Spokój apartment pages. The type of outdoor space helps compare the apartments, but does not in itself confirm the conditions for a stay with a pet.

The word ‘garden’ does not automatically mean secure fencing or permission to let a dog roam freely. The boundary, access by other people and rules for shared areas still need to be checked. A balcony or terrace also needs to be assessed with the individual dog in mind.

The route for everyday walks matters too. The map of the apartments and surrounding area shows the apartment location. Before arrival, it is possible to ask about the building exit, stairs and the nearest route for a short walk. Not every morning walk needs to be a hike to a summit.

Where can dogs go walking in the Karkonosze?

Accommodation with a dog and access to trails are two separate matters. Karkonosze National Park allows dogs on designated routes; a lead is required, and the owner should carry a muzzle in case it is needed. The park publishes a map and a list of sections closed to dogs on its ‘Z psem na szlak’ page.

Around Szklarska Poręba, the rules at the two waterfalls are particularly easy to confuse. Under the park's access rules, dogs on a lead may use the black-marked trail to Wodospad Szklarki. Dogs are not allowed at Wodospad Kamieńczyka or in its gorge. The ban also covers the whole Ścieżka nad Reglami trail. An attraction's name on a tourist map is therefore not enough to plan a walk with a dog.

Before setting out, the planned route needs to be compared with the map for dog owners and the current KPN visitor conditions notice. Dogs being permitted on a section does not rule out a temporary trail closure. If a journey involves a chairlift or bus, the rules for carrying animals need to be checked separately.

What to prepare for the stay and after a walk

A familiar dog bed, bowls, enough food and a towel for wiping paws make the stay easier to organise. A towel is especially useful after rain, before the dog steps onto a carpet or approaches the furniture. A lead, waste bags and water are also needed for walks.

The length of a walk is best matched to the dog's fitness and the conditions, with time for rest. KPN draws attention to access to water and ground surfaces that can be hard on dogs' paws. A trail allowing dogs does not necessarily make it suitable for every animal.

If the stay is to begin before the standard check-in time of 16:00, early check-in also needs confirmation. Mentioning the dog and planned arrival time in one message allows both conditions to be agreed before travelling.

The key point before booking is a reply for the specific dates and apartment: whether the dog can come, the total cost and the conditions of the stay. Once these are agreed, the accommodation and walking plans can be matched to the trip.
